wide plank or standard hardwood floor?
i’m looking to get a bamboo floor. i was just wondering if anyone has experience with wide plank flooring. I’ve only seen samples, not whole floors, but it seems 3 1/4 inch wide floor strips are more attractive than the wide planks. can anyone with experience chime in with pros and cons?
A wider plank does look nicer. In most climates you can install up to a 6″ board w/o worrying about it cupping as long as you control a normal humidity in the room. But this goes with any wood flooring also.
Have you looked or thought about alternating planks and sizes? That looks real good and there are several combs you can do depending on the widths offered by the wood you picked out.
A con with the wider planks, they are usually a bit more costly than your standard because the standard 2 1/4″ is so widely mass produced.Pro. By alternating the widths , you bring that cost down a bit..
