Essential Steps To Bamboo Fountain Construction

You should consider using a bamboo fountain to liven up your garden.  These unique types of fountains were first developed in Japan where they were used to chase deer away from the fields of rice paddies.  The name “deer chasers” was coined and is still used as another name for the bamboo fountain.

Monks made a new use for the bamboo fountain; this time as a way to time their mediations.  With more people conscious of the environment, the bamboo fountain is getting more attention since it is made of environmentally friendly material.  Still, the bamboo fountain possesses a simple beauty and charm that attracts people.  The bamboo fountain is a flexible model so you can use them both indoors and outdoors.

Constructing a bamboo fountain is easy and takes only a few parts to build.  You should have bamboo, pipe or tubing, a base, a water pump, rod, screws, and a container.  When the bamboo fountain is for outdoor use, you might think about the quality of your bamboo since lower quality bamboo may crack under certain weather conditions.  Apart from practical issues, if you intend the bamboo fountain for inside use, you might consider polishing the bamboo to make it more appealing and longer lasting.  Before you start building the bamboo fountain, you should also have the right tools including a screwdriver, a drill, and a wood saw.

Once you’re ready to build, you should start by cutting the bamboo sticks to the right length.  You will need three big bamboo sticks.  One piece of bamboo will be used to hold the nozzle while the others will hold the moving part of the bamboo fountain.  The moving part of the bamboo fountain will gather and remove water once the water collected increases to certain level.  Use a drill to put holes in the center of the bamboo sticks and the moving part.  These holes will accommodate the rod that allows the fountain to pivot.

Your pipe will be ran through the middle of the bamboo stick to the pump.  The pipe will be capped by a nozzle made of bamboo.  Everything should then be secured onto a base.  You know that the bamboo fountain is working fine when the water coming from the nozzle continues running to the moving part of the fountain.

If you’ve read this and realize you don’t want to build a bamboo fountain this way, you can always buy an easy-to-install kit at a home and garden center.

If you do get a bamboo fountain, you might like to know how to maintain one.  Care and maintenance deal in two basic areas.  You will focus on the water pump care.  Your pump must be kept submerged when running.  It must be cleaned on a regular basis.  You must replace the water in your fountain on a regular schedule.  While you won’t have to change the water on a bamboo fountain that constantly operates, you still need to schedule a time so you’re not dealing with stinky water.
