How to Hookah make a Coconut Hookah or Shisha Pipe
To make hookah first you’re going to need to get some supplies in. For the best Old Skool shisha you shall need to buy a coconut, clay hookah bowl and if possible a long piece of hollowed sugarcane or bamboo.
The coconut shall be used to make a water container like the hookah glass to make hookah. The bamboo or sugarcane shall be used to make a hookah hose. If you cannot find sugarcane, bamboo or anything similar you could always buy shisha hoses.
Take the coconut and knock out two of the eyes. Drain the coconut milk, but don’t throw it away as we can even use it later to really add flavour to the shisha.
Next cut your long hollowed bamboo or sugarcane hookah hose into two pieces the first approximately 120 centimetres and the other been a lot smaller around 15 centimetres. The first piece you cut shall be used as your hookah hose and the smaller piece used to make hookah stem and the hookah bowl head.
If necessary widen the eyes on the coconut shell so that the bamboo or sugarcane hookah hose and hookah stem fit tightly into the eye holes. You can easily use a rounded wood file to do this.
Fill the coconut shell with a little water so it’s around half full, at this point you can even add some of the coconut milk you drained earlier, this works best with vanilla, coffee, chocolate and obviously coconut flavoured herbal shisha and shisha molasses.
Once you have filled the coconut shell with water to make hookah you need to add the shisha pipes stem and hookah hose, tightly twist the two pieces of bamboo or sugarcane into the eye holes, this can be tricky now with water inside so take care not to turn the coconut!
The shorter piece of bamboo which shall be used to make the hookah stem should be pushed into the body (coconut shell) around 8 centimetres so that the one end is well submerged by the water inside while the other end is externally raised. The hookah hose should only be pushed into the body approximately 2 centimetres so is positioned way above the water level.
Load a clay hookah bowl and position it on the bamboo or sugarcane hookah stem using either hookah grommets or cardboard to make the hookah seal.
Drop a shisha coal on top of the hookah bowl, sit back and take a rest.
Experiment you can use almost any container to make hookah and shisha pipes.
