Bamboo Kitchens Popularity Grow Leaps And Bounds
Bamboo Cabinets have increased in popularity in recent months. People like the fact that the Bamboo is a easily renewable product. If fact, the bamboo typically grows about 10′ in height per year, which translates to about 1/3 of an inch per day. Bamboo is actually very hard, about 20% harder than Solid Oak. Solid Bamboo Cabinets are Formaldehyde Free depending on the supplier of Bamboo used in the project. The custom bamboo cabinets also come with several different doors styles. There is a slab door, a pillowed door, and inlayed door, a shaker door and a raised panel door now available. The bamboo can also be stained with a waterbased stain and then coated with a Low-VOC Acrylic Waterbased Lacquer.
The drawers can also be made in solid bamboo. The best drawers are 5/8″ thick solid bamboo with 1/2 solid bamboo bottoms. The best drawers are dovetailed together. The Best Drawer track is the Blum Full Extension Undermount Softclose. The Best Hinges are the Blum “clip on” hinges which allow you to clip off the door easily without removing any screws.
There is also solid Bamboo End Grain Countertops which are also gaining in popularity. Most kitchens use the Bamboo for the Island or peninsula and then granite or some other stone for the additional countertops in the kitchen. Another “cool” product is “Vetrazzo” which a nother green friendly product which uses a combination of “Recycled Glass” and Concrete. The manufacture uses glass from Beer Bottles, Wine Bottles, Sky Vodka to name a few. The manufacturer says it is a durable product and easy to maintain.
Bamboo Cabinets are typically more expensive than standard cabinets. The Custom Solid Bamboo Cabinets can be expensive but are built to last.
